The mission of CCC is to provide assistance to those within the greater Boynton Beach area who are in need. Assistance can be in the form of financial aid, food, shelter, bus passes, referrals, medication vouchers, gas vouchers or transportation assistance, volunteer care giving, advocacy for food and healthcare, and nutrition education programs that address the needs of the community.

Description:
CCC provides the following programs and services:

• a Food Pantry - providing USDA products, fresh fruits & vegetables, high protein items (frozen fish and meats), hygiene products, & baby food & diapers;
• a SHARE Program - SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange) is a grassroots program that began in San Diego in 1983. It builds community through volunteer service by bringing people together to meet a basic human need: food. SHARE provides people access to good, affordable food and provides communities with dedicated volunteers. Smart shoppers can buy a $35 bag of groceries for $18 and 2 hours of volunteer service. They place an order early each month and then pick up the food on the designated distribution day, usually the fourth Saturday of each month. This program is especially helpful to those on a limited budget and those who are willing to save money through participation in a self-help food distribution program;
• a Financial Assistance program that provides payments for rents/mortgages, delinquent utility bills, & emergency shelter or referrals to other agencies that might assist;
• a Faith In Action program that recruits, trains, and supports caring volunteers to help their frail and elderly neighbors through friendly relationships. The assistance can be shopping, picking up medication, respite care, financial assessments and management, taking a person to the doctor’s, and even minor home repairs. The simple gift of friendship can restore joy and hope to a person who is isolated from friends and family support;
• a Child Nutrition Education Program which is a 10-week, hands-on, interactive project to help children learn the benefits of & to identify fruits & vegetables in the five color groups: red, yellow, blue, green, & white. The goals of the program are simple: 1) help children identify fresh fruits and vegetables, 2) incorporate 5 fruits and vegetables a day into their diets, and 3) gain an understanding of the nutritional benefits. We expect that the program will help increase their skill to obtain, select, and prepare healthier choices, and that changes in attitudes, values, and behaviors can be obtained for healthier, longer lives;
• Advocacy - CCC sits on the Board of Director's of the Boynton Beach PATCH (Planned Approach to Community Health) Program. Boynton Beach PATCH has been working diligently on bringing about an affordable "Wellness Center" to the area. A temporary site has been operating every Saturday morning for the last several years. CCC works in collaboration with the Women's Circle to assisted poor, uninsured women to receive free mammograms;
• Hurricane Relief program - CCC has worked with FEMA and Project Hope along with community congregations and United Way of PBC to provide emergency assistance to victims of Hurricane Jeanne, Frances, Katrina, Wilma. It also works with the Guatemalan-Maya Center to assist vulnerable populations with hurricane preparedness.



History:
CCC was organized by the Boynton Beach Ministerial Alliance in 1987 to serve the needs of the community in a coordinated, compassionate, communicative manner. CCC is a not-for- profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax-deductible.

It is an inter-faith based organization committed to serving the needs of families in crisis. Last year, CCC provided services in the amount of $205,000 to 4,400 individuals.

CCC holds several fundraisers each year to support its programs: a bulk mail "Summer Raffle," a Fall "Hunger Walk," a Winter "Community Choir Festival," and a Spring "Harvest of Hearts" Dinner/Dance Gala. City of Boynton Beach Mayor Jerry Taylor and his wife Dolores have been honorary co-chairs for the last two consecutive years.

Each year in April, CCC holds a volunteer recognition luncheon to honor its 75 volunteers.

CCC needs many volunteers to help with special projects each year like the Thanksgiving "Holiday Cornucopia" Project, Christmas toy gift wrapping, and Easter Basket project and Back to School supply drive.

Lots of volunteers are needed to participate on fundraising projects and program activities like "Healthy Snack Wednesdays" and shopping for produce during the 10 week nutrition education classes with pre-schoolers and to prepare our community garden plot for planting by the children.
