Volunteer Opportunity Details: Last updated on October 1, 2009 Manage or provide support in a shelter during hurricanes and other disasters. Provide a safe shelter environment to meet the needs of people displaced by disaster. Possess the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. You will be required to attend specified Red Cross training. New volunteers will complete an application, interview and background check. Worked at Gaines Center for week. Worked family services & damage assessment. I gained better understanding of the Red Cross workings & how much they make a difference.
