Help thousands of people receive the money they've earned! United Way of Palm Beach County is looking for volunteers to be volunteer income tax preparers and greeters at various VITA sites throughout the county. The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program helps residents who earn less than $49,000 dollars a year avoid paying tax preparation fees and receive the refunds they deserve. As a result, these individuals are able to keep more of their hard earned money to pay their bills and increase their family's savings. VITA volunteers are asked to commit to working a minimum of four hours per week at a VITA Center during tax-filing season from January 19 - April 15, 2010. Greeters must be at least 16 years of age. If you would like to join many other dedicated community members as a VITA volunteer, please contact Donna Pulda, United Way of Palm Beach County at (561) 375-6621 or donnapulda@unitedwaypbc.org. Please Note: Location is not at the United Way address below; ask for specific VITA locations.

Overall Experience

The Volunteering at the United Way of Palm Beach County was a valuble experience.

Volunteering at the United Way of Palm Beach County was truly a rewarding experience. I became part of an amazing staff of people that are making a difference in Palm Beach County everyday. The work that I did encompassed many sectors of volunteerism including children and families, enriching the lives of senior citizens, helping people with disabilities as well as food, shelter and emergency needs. I also created an easy to use website manual geared to help agencies gain volunteers post volunteer opportunities through the United Way of Palm Beach County's website. I felt that my work really made a difference in the lives of others. I highly recommend volunteering at the United Way of Palm Beach County. posted by Monique246 on June 27, 2003 |

Overall Experience

It has been very rewarding.

I volunteer two days a week at the United Way Volunteer Center and assist with clerical duties. For the past 20 years, I worked for a large corporation whose main concern was increasing revenues. I have never been associated with a nonprofit agency, and it is refreshing to be around people who care about their community and want to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. I feel my involvement with United Way has given me a better understanding of the tremendous need for resources and volunteers, as well as an appreciation for United Way's tireless efforts in behalf of Palm Beach County. posted by Kathy Stephens on February 27, 2003 |

Overall Experience

I felt very welcomed and wanted by the people at United Way.

The United Way of Palm Beach is an agency that gives money to non profit agencies and is the source where volunteer opportunities are found. I worked at the United for the summer and I found my experience to be very rewarding. I was able to help with the initial setup of a new website geared towards helping agencies post volunteer opportunities and helping volunteers find the perfect opportunity for them. The environment I worked in was very warm, supportive, and informative. I learned something new each day I came to The United Way. I especially enjoyed being a part of something that is going to make a difference in people's lives. The three people I worked most closely with were Donna Pulda, Lise Landry, and Daryl Houston. They made me feel like I was part of the team ever since the first day I walked through the door. I will always remember and cherish the great volunteer opportunity I experienced this summer. posted on August 16, 2002 |
