"Academic Ambassadors" The Milagro Center needs volunteer tutors to help children ages 6-11 with their homework.

Volunteer Opportunity Details: Last updated on September 28, 2009 The ideal candidate will be ready to commit to a minimum of six months with one to four hours per week to develop relationships with one or more children in academics. The qualifications to become an Academic Ambassador are: A sincere desire to be personally involved with children to help him/her achieve academic improvement and personal development. The ability to communicate with children openly and to be nonjudgmental. &Strong listening skills Practical problem solving skills and ability to suggest options and alternatives. &Sensitivity to people of different educational, economic, cultural, or racial backgrounds. The responsibilities of an Academic Ambassador are: Make a minimum six-month commitment to developing and maintain a mentor relationship with a child. Attend volunteer orientations, training, and support sessions. Complete and submit a FDLE fingerprint form.
