Spring Valley Shelter provides a safe haven for individuals and families to build solid foundations through education, counseling and support to motivate and empower them to become productive economic and community contributors.
Description:
Each household receives a private apartment, case management, life skills training, counseling, budgeting help, and other programming designed to help them address the root causes of their homelessness. A household may stay as long as needed to reach independent housing: most stays last one to four months. On April 8,2006, Spring Valley Shelter moved from its 8-household facility on Route 30 to a 28-household facility on Calumet Avenue, just north of the Walgreens.
