ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT – Lakefront Art Festival (3rd weekend in August)
Under the guidance of the Program Director, volunteers play an important role in supporting the center’s community outreach effort at the Lubeznik Center’s annual Lakefront Art Festival. The LCA provides various art activities for children as just one component of the festival. Volunteers commit to 2-hour shifts during festival hours starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and/or Sunday of the 3rd weekend in August. Volunteers co-work with at least 2 additional individuals during their shift to help at the Kid’s Art Tent.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with set-up of children’s art activities such as painting, crafts, pottery-making, etc.
• Provide assistance and encouragement to participants
• Assist with clean-up of children’s art activities
• Attend festival committee meetings as directed by Program Director
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
• Elementary Education or Art Education background helpful, but not required
• Prior experience guiding children through activities
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Communicate effectively with children
• Exercise patience and provide basic instruction to children
• Work co-operatively with others
