The Compassionate Friends

Register Now for Memorial “Walk to Remember” Children

A Butterfly Release will be held on the pier at Lemon Lake August at 12:00 noon in A Celebration of Life commemorating children that have died too soon. Following the Butterfly Release and Walk there will be a barbecue provided by TCF.  Walkers are encouraged to bring a favorite side dish to share.

You do not need to be a member of The Compassionate Friends to join with us and you do not need to walk the full two miles,” says chapter leader, Carol Castaneda. “We welcome everyone who wants to join hands and hearts in remembering all children who have died too soon.”

The Compassionate Friends is the largest self-help bereavement organization in the world and offers friendship and understanding to families that have experienced the death of a child.  There are nearly 600 chapters in the United States, as well as other chapters located in over 30 countries around the globe.  This year The Compassionate Friends 31st National Conference and “Walk to Remember” will be held in Nashville, Tennessee where more than 1,000 are expected to participate. Several dozen chapters across the country are expected to join in concurrent walks throughout the day.

Anyone interested in walking should call Carol Castaneda at (219) 662-0902 or email carolcastaneda@sbcglobal.net to receive a registration form. There is a registration fee of $5.00 and children under 10 are free.  Anyone who would like to purchase a 2007 Celebration of Life….”Walk to Remember” T-shirt or an individually boxed Monarch Butterfly should request a separate order form.  Walkers who purchase a T-shirt are not required to pay the $5.00 registration fee.

You may sponsor a butterfly in memory of a loved one to be included in the mass release.  Please include your name, the name of the person you are commemorating and $10.00/butterfly donation. Mail checks payable to The Compassionate Friends and send to:  Carol Castaneda at 13216 Marshall Street Crown Point, IN  46307.
