First Motion - Seattle
Our business motto is "Educate, Energize, and Empower". Our "target audience" is the 11 - 14 year-old youth group. We hope to build confidence, self-worth, and community awareness in the youth we serve.
Description:
Our primary goal is to bring the community to the children and the children to the community. We offer a one year (broken into quarters) program based around physical fitness in the form of martial arts, increased learning potential in the form of tutoring, and community awareness through charitable giving. Our classes will be comprised of ten participants and their program volunteers. The first quarter will focus on physical fitness and developing self-discipline. It is here that the commitment of the participants and their parents will be evaluated. The second quarter will introduce individualized tutoring tailored to meet the specific needs of the participants. The third quarter introduces community awareness through our mentoring/coaching program. It is here the participants will learn various ways they can help their community. The fourth quarter is the project quarter. Here the participants will design, implement and carry out their own community service project. Mentors/coaches will be along to help them facilitate their dream. Another one of our goals is that we are able to retain one or two students from each program as advisors for succeeding classes. This we believe will develop a sense of community within our organization.
