REACH Ministries

Agency Details:

REACH Ministries
Logo

REACH extends compassionate care to those affected by HIV/AIDS and all life-threatening illnesses and situations.

Description:
REACH serves the most isolated, marginalized and ethnically diverse children, those infected by HIV/AIDS, their families and the communities in which they live, focusing on those in the Pacific Northwest. We address a distinct unmet need where generally the church and Christ-centered ministries have not ventured. REACH families come from a broad spectrum of cultural and economic backgrounds with 61% living below the poverty level. We are aware of no similar organizations offering the breadth of service that REACH provides.
Medical professionals from Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center of Seattle, Madigan Medical Army Hospital, Multi Care and various other health organizations, individuals and groups donate their time and talents to serve the children, families and the community in many ways. Some volunteers serve directly with the youth though our REACH Mentoring program, REACH Camp and psychosocial Progressive Units. Others serve by providing education and support through the REACH High School program, and our ABC+G Sex Education curriculum.

History:
REACH Ministries was founded by Susan Slonaker in 1999 as a nonprofit Christian organization to serve the communities from the deserts of the Southwest through the Pacific Northwestern states, providing respite for those affected by life-threatening illnesses and situations. In recent years, however, REACH has expanded its services to meet the needs of those in 12 states across the country.
