Description:
Suited for Success is a community based, non-profit agency focusing on employment issues. We work with agencies who help identify and assist low income job seekers. We help clients improve their personal presentation skills and professional appearance so they can find good jobs and keep them. We provide workshops that focus on assessing personal image, building self-esteem, selecting appropriate interview clothing, examining attitudes, communicating effectively, grooming for the workplace and more. Men and women referred to our services can also select interview or work clothing, shoes, and accessories from our on-site clothing bank of professional attire donated by members of the community who support this program and its outreach.
History:
Suited for Success started over 15 years ago in Piece County first helping low-income women get ready for job interviewing. In September 2008 a similar program for low-income men was begun. Starting in 1993 under the name "New Options", its name was later changed to "Suited for Success". Referrals to our weekly workshop come from: Employment Security Department's Work First programs; abuse shelters; chemical dependency treatment centers; community jobs programs, vocational rehabilitation programs and other agencies. Since 1993 thousands of people have received assistance from this program.
