Working under the direction of Suited for Success staff, collectors assist in the collection of clothing donations from individuals and gifts in kind from retail and businesses in the community. Collectors must have access to a personal vehicle. Hours are flexible and vary with the rate of donations. A few of the gifts in kind donations require pick up on a weekly or monthly schedule, but most other pick ups will be on an as-needed basis. Duties include:
- Getting list of donation pick up sites or addresses and any specific directions regarding the timing or location of the pick up from staff.
- If necessary, calling donors to arrange a specific time to collect clothing or gifts in kind.
- Loading donations at pick up and unloading at the boutique or maintenance site.
- Arranging for assistance when donations include unusually large or cumbersome articles.
- Providing receipts to donors, and returning carbon copy t the office so donations are acknowledged in a timely way.
- Keeping accurate information on names, addresses and other details that will assist staff in maintaining good relationships with donors.
The position supports Suited for Success, a program providing assistance to low income women transitioning to self-sufficiency. Clients who are referred to the agency or who attend the weekly suited for Success workshops are invited to choose interview or work clothing.
