| Last updated on August 13, 2009 |
Most of Northwest Trek's volunteer opportunities are based on a year-long commitment; an average of 4 hours/week is suggested. Eighty percent of Trek volunteers assist in the EDUCATION DEPARTMENT greeting park visitors and communicating with them about the park, its natural history and its animals. Some volunteer positions are also available in the ANIMAL CARE, MAINTENANCE, MARKETING/PR and VISITOR SERVICES DEPARTMENTS. Another volunteer opportunity is with SPECIAL EVENTS where volunteers help only during the park's 5 - 6 annual special events. Year Round Volunteers in the EDUCATION and ANIMAL CARE DEPARTMENTS are required to attend a training session which usually consists of 6 Saturday 4-hour sessions. Please refer to the park web site and link to THE PARK, JOIN TREK then VOLUNTEERS to learn more about volunteer requirements, commitment and to find an on-line application.
