The mission of Good Samaritan Services, Inc. (GSSI) is to provide emergency, transitional and support services to the homeless and those in recovery throughout the Central Coast.

History:
GSSI began as temporary evening shelter services for the homeless in collaboration with various area churches.

Under the guidance of the North County Project Group, non-profit GSSI was established in 1987. On January 31, 1988 the 28-bed modular shelter at 406 South Pine Street began providing services. Our new shelter at 401 West Morrison Avenue officially opened December 5, 2003. This is a 76-bed year-round emergency shelter replacing the 28 bed modular and the winter shelter program.

GSSI pioneered and continues a successful working partnership with hundreds of citizens and volunteers from more than 32 churches and service organizations.
