To end the devastating affects of MS.

Description:
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services to people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and fifty-state network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Seeking out and engaging volunteers to the MS cause is at the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers three key fundraising activities: The Bike MS, Walk Ms and MS Challenge Walk. The Society also engages volunteers to help influence lawmakers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as: marketing communications, public relations, corporate and donor development, medical, legal, administrative and organizational expertise.

History:
Since 1947, the Southern California Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has provided information and assistance to people with multiple sclerosis and their loved ones. We’ve reached out to more than 87,500 people touched by MS in an expanding base of support that currently includes the Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Inyo, Kern, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Fresno and San Luis Obispo counties. Offering much needed services and funding top-rated research, our dedicated staff members and volunteers are unified by a single goal—to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.
The Southern California Chapter is part of a 50-state network of chapters across the United States that advances the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s mission. The National MS Society has spent more for MS research than any non-governmental agency in the world. The Society invests $35 million annually to fuel the efforts of hundreds of researchers throughout the U.S. and abroad. That investment is paying off in significant advances toward finding improved treatments as well as better diagnoses, rehabilitation and symptom therapy.
The Southern California Chapter provides outstanding, comprehensive programs and support services designed to help people with MS and their families’ better cope with the consequences of this complex illness. Whether providing the latest research and referrals, helping people obtain or keep jobs, providing comprehensive medical care or running rehabilitation or counseling programs, the goal of the Chapter programs and services empower people with MS and their loved ones so that they can better control their lives and wellness.
This Chapter depends on community support to fund local programs and accelerate national research projects to identify the cause and cure of MS. Generosity can come from anywhere. We are thankful to our members and their friends, corporate partners and the general public who help us raise the money we need to someday eliminate MS.
