Adult Literacy Tutor

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 28, 2009

Adult Literacy Tutors volunteer once or twice a week to help another community adult improve his or her reading, writing, or other basic skills. The library provides free training and materials for all tutors. Tutor/learner pairs meet at library branches or other public places. Our mission is to help adult learners reach their goals!

All tutors must take a nine-hour training course, offered approximately ten times each year. Tutors must be 18 years or over and be able to read/write at a high school level. Tutors must be willing to make a six-month commitment to the program, but those volunteers seeking a shorter-term opportunity should also contact us!
