Each year many students come to school without the necessary supplies to learn with. Teachers often reach into their own pockets to provide these supplies to children who need them. The United Way in collaboration with WalMart, the Santa Maria Bonita School District, and the Chamber of Commerce is having an event where a big yellow school bus is parked in the WalMart parking out the Crossroads Shopping Center on September 19th from 9AM - 5PM. Everyone can help...if you're a business you can put box out in your store to collect supplies for the two weeks leading up to the event (Sept. 8 - Sept. 19) and bring your donations to the bus on September 19th. If you work together with others you can form  a volunteer team to help out on the day of the event by greeting folks, taking donations, sorting and counting, and arranging items on the bus. We also need a team to unload the bus after the event. If you want to sign up on your own, just become a registered volunteer and sign up on line.
