The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Snohomish County matches the skills/training and preferences of persons fifty-five plus to available volunteer opportunities and promotes their voluntary service as a valuable community resource.

Description:
RSVP provides free volunteer evaluation and matches personal interest, skills and lifelong experiences with non-profit public organizations at over 100 different partner agencies, including non-profits, municipalities, schools and proprietary health care agencies, throughout the county. Working with our partner stations we are able to provide 100's of volunteer opportunities. RSVP also believes in fostering a sense of volunteering in our community regardless of age. If you see an RSVP volunteer job and aren't yet 55, call us anyhow! We'd be glad to assist you in finding an opportunity to help out in the community through your gift of volunteering.

History:
In 1971, the Foster Grandparent Program was incorporated into the newly created ACTION agency, along with the Peace Corps, VISTA, the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), and the Active Corps of Retired Executives (ACE). That year, half of the Foster Grandparent budget of $10.5 million was expected to be used to fund a new Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), an effort to place seniors in volunteer assignments.
RSVP of Snohomish County was the first RSVP project to exist in the state of Washington which began at South County Senior Center in 1972. RSVP is under the Corporation for National and Community Service which is funded by Congress.
