Cleaning a room uplifts the atmosphere and the spirits of the residents of the domestic violence shelter. Last Spring Junior Girl Scout Troop #48 taught us the power of moving the furniture and offering ever-loving elbow grease to go deeper into the cleaning the kitchen. They understood that even though residents clean daily, the big deep clean that we all do every now and again never really happens in a community living situation. SO they took it on! They got in the corners of the shelves and behind the refrigerator to make the kitchen and the residence alike sparkle. We have adopted their enthusiasm and applied it to the rest of the shelter on a regular basis. An important requirement is that you not be allergic to cleaning products or dust - we stir up dust! You must be unquestionable in your ability to maintain confidentiality - that's first and foremost. AND it makes it fun if you really enjoy cleaning! If it gives you satisfaction to look at a shiny, clean room with a freshly shampooed carpet, your our volunteer! This opportunity is sponsored by: Aiding Women in Abuse & Rape Emergencies (AWARE)
