American Red Cross - Connecticut Chapter

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Description:
The American Red Cross provides emergency relief to victims of disasters throughout Connecticut. Connecticut Chapter office locations include Waterford, New Haven, Bridgeport and Farmington, providing community disaster education, training in First Aid, CPR, AED, Water Safety, HIV/AIDS, babysitting, and other health and safety programs. The Chapter also supports the Connecticut Region Blood Services Program, emergency communications between members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families, and international social services and tracing. Volunteer opportunities are provided for adults and youth (minimum age 16), including internships for college students.

History:
Volunteers are the very foundation of the American Red Cross and include trained disaster responders, health and safety instructors, blood drive registration and refreshment volunteers, office volunteers, fund-raising committee members, and more. The Red Cross depends on volunteers to help accomplish our mission of helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
