Looking For My Sister
Looking for My Sister is a grassroots, faith-based, 501(C)(3), non-profit organization committed to putting an end to domestic violence by promoting community awareness and helping survivors gain the tools needed to obtain independence, self-esteem and self-determination.
Description:
Programming and services at Looking For my Sister are client centered, outcome based and focus on helping victims of domestic violence develop positive self esteem, independent living and other life skills that will eave them empowered, determined and active participants in society. Over the 24 months that women are receiving services at Looking For my Sister , a variety of programs will be offered geared at ensuring that all participants are able to raise healthy families, secure permanent housing and navigate their communities to ensure that they are and feel “safe”, active and self sufficient.
History:
Started by Laurie Moore, Executive Director and Domestic Violence Survivor, Looking for My Sister begin in 2004, providing outreach services to victims of domestic violence, such as lifeskills training program, support groups, emergency referrals, financial literacy, computer literacy & counseling.
