Description:
Community Housing Network (CHN) is a nonprofit organization located in Troy, Michigan serving residents of Oakland and Macomb counties. We provide affordable housing and housing resources to the homeless, those at risk of homelessness, and people with disabilities. The organization is led by President/CEO Marc Craig and has a current staff of fifty-one.

In 2008 the activities of CHN via our Housing Resource Center, permanent supportive housing programs, property management and affordable housing development directly benefitted more than 27,000 residents of Oakland and Macomb counties.

CHN works in partnership with support coordinators and agencies to seek individualized, creative solutions to the housing needs of the people we help. We believe that all people are entitled to:

• Attain safe, decent, affordable housing of their choice;
  
  
• Have ultimate control of who they live with, if anyone, including other people with disabilities and/or people who do not experience disability;
  
  
• Procure the housing of their choice, separate from the attainment of other supports or services.
  
  

CHN facilitates the utilization of local, state, federal, and private resources to promote sustainable, affordable housing opportunities in Oakland and Macomb County.

Community Housing Network, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 organization. Donations are tax deductible as allowable by law.

History:
CHN originated in 2001 through a contract with the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority (OCCMHA) to provide group home management, affordable housing development, and dissemination of housing information and resources. The organization initially served people with disabilities who received services through OCCMHA. In less than a decade CHN expanded into Macomb County and now provides: a comprehensive Housing Resource Center with housing education, referral and advocacy information available to the greater community at large; a homeless outreach program created in 2008; administration of supportive housing programs benefiting formerly homeless adults and children; management and development of Section 811 units which retain properties as affordable for people with disabilities for 40 years.
