In the belief that all people have dignity and worth and are entitled to the highest quality of life, AIDS Partnership Michigan is committed to:

*being an effective and powerful voice,
*providing leadership and education, and
*providing support services and programs to those infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Description:
AIDS Partnership Michigan is the state's central resource for information and referral about HIV/AIDS and the largest service provider in Michigan. Our goal is to simplify client access to services, to expand the scope of these services, to develop new programs to meet the community's changing needs, and to provide cutting edge prevention programs.
AIDS Partnership Michigan offers a variety of services and programs provided by 32 staff members and more than 145 dedicated volunteers. Founded in 1983, APM is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. All contributions are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations.

History:
Wellness networks, Inc. was formed in 1983 by a group of physicians and community activists associated with Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. The group moved to Ferndale as it expanded, and it soon became the state's leading community-based organization dealing with the new AIDS epidemic. It has operated the state's AIDS Hotlines ever since they were set up.
As HIV spread, individuals had a hard time finding and using services, as the system became more complex. AIDS Care Connection began in 1989 as a program of the former United Community Services of Metropolitan Detroit to coordinate services for people affected by HIV and AIDS and identifying delivery gaps.
The merger of Wellness Networks, Inc and AIDS Care Connection in April 1996 produced our new name AIDS Partnership Michigan. In March 1997, AIDS Interfaith Network became a program service area of AIDS Partnership Michigan.
