The Waiting Room volunteers serve as liaison between families and patients, run errands for nursing staff and assist in regulating visitation to patients in the unit. Our volunteers are community members who provide service to patients and their families. They work together with staff members to enhance the quality of care. The volunteers exemplify the spirit and values of Catherine McAuley, the foundress of the Sisters of Mercy who's life was dedicated to caring for all with compassion and dignity. Selected candidates attend an orientation. Majority of our volunteers volunteer one day a week for 4 hours. Volunteers assume the following responsibilities: * To maintain the dignity and integrity of the patients. * To carry out duties promptly and reliably. * To comply with all hospital rules and regulations.
