Volunteers provide assistance and support to survivors of domestic violence, stalking and physical abuse. Volunteers educate clients on procedures involved in obtaining a personal protection order. No legal experience is needed for this position.

This position requires a one-year commitment and that the volunteer come in weekly on a regular schedule. This position also requires that the volunteer work well with people under stress.

Volunteers must complete the volunteer application and questionnaire, schedule and attend an initial screening interview, complete HAVEN's Direct Service Training and schedule and attend a second screening interview. At that point, the volunteer is officially accepted into the program.

 My agency serves victems of domestic violence. I volunteered for the Gift Give A Way program it was very well organized and painless.
