Description:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"My child has been diagnosed with cancer...
...what do I do?"
There is hope in the face of devastating diagnosis.
We offer our support and services to every family without regard to income, race, religion, or choices of physician(s) and healthcare facilities. We dedicate ourselves to enriching the lives of children who have cancer by providing hope, support, encouragement, advocacy, and education to those children, their families, and the community at large. We serve children who have cancer, ages newborn to 21 years of age.
A diagnosis of childhood cancer is devastating for the family. Childhood cancer is treated aggressively, often with a combination of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, at a time of life when bodies are growing and developing. Treatment has a significant long-term impact on childrens' endocrine, heart, and cognitive functions. Additionally, parents of children with cancer are often young, have a limited income, and they have other children. One parent often needs to give up a job to take care of their child being treated for cancer.
