Board of Education Academic Priorities
- Improve the educational design and delivery of instruction and curriculum by utilizing best practices.
- Organize and optimize assets for improved academic results.
- Analyze and measure principal and teacher effectiveness in improving student performance and results.
- Develop, expand and coordinate a literacy based birth-through-kindergarten initiative.
- Create unique, innovative family-and-community-friendly partnerships to improve academic results.
Goals
- To promote relevant and rigorous education for all students by recognizing their diversity and all educational needs.
- To support the continuous monitoring, assessment and revision of the district’s Educational Plan for Student Success (EPSS); to implement a strategic planning process; and to hold central office administration, principals, and teachers accountable for student achievement.
- To provide continuing differentiated professional development that supports the implementation of a consistent curriculum focused on rigorous instruction for all students.
- To promote and support collaboration among schools, families and all members of the community to accomplish the mission of LCPS Board of Education.
- To create and maintain a database of physical attributes and existing conditions of all facilities and develop a 5-10 year capital program addressing present and future needs of the district.
- To attract and retain the best-qualified and most diverse personnel to support increased student performance.
Educational Plan for Student Success (EPSS) Goals LCPS District EPSS Focus Area 1, Literacy: All Las Cruces Public Schools students will achieve or surpass proficiency in reading, writing, and communication to meet grade level standards. LCPS District EPSS Focus Area 2, Numeracy: All Las Cruces Public Schools students will achieve or surpass proficiency in mathematics to meet grade level standards. LCPS District EPSS Focus Area 3, Student Success: Las Cruces Public Schools will support school personnel in utilizing resources to provide students opportunities to achieve academic and personal success.
