Friends Of The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library
The Friends of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support and enhance the services offered by the library. Through membership fees, donations and proceeds from fund-raising projects, the Friends have been able to fill a variety of needs of the Library and to provide programs for the community.
History:
The first meeting of the Friends of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library was in October 1976, with 36 charter memberships. From the outset, the purpose of the Friends has been to promote and support our public library. The first Friends project, undertaken in 1977, was a drive to acquire a new library building which was dedicated on December 9, 1979. A quarterly newsletter was started in January 1977, and is currently available on the Library's web page. A monthly book review program was inaugurated in February 1977, and continues on the2nd Tuesday of the month in the Dresp Room of the Library. Books-and-More, our in-house store was originally opened in September 2002, closed temporarily closed in late 2005, and re-opened in January 2008.
