G. Ann Remick-Barlow and Associates offer a variety of mental health promotion programs that involve experiential therapy and therapy/learning social skills through interaction with horses (equine assisted psychotherapy) as well as traditional in office individual, couple, family and group therapy. Our mental health promotion programs involve activities that are intended to increase resilience such as enhanced ability to problem solve, to think creatively, communicate and develop more interpersonal skills, to work and play in teams or groups. Social skills that involve focusing, discerning safety and boundaries with all age groups are a part of every intervention.
History:
Ann Remick-Barlow, LISW has been in private practice since 1975. She began her practice in Charlotte, NC and relocated to Las Cruces in 1994. While in Charlotte Ann taught at UNCC, was the Director an Employee Assistance Firm, and was owner and founder of the Harbour Retreat and Conference Center. In Las Cruces she taught at NMSU and opened her practice in Las Cruces in 1997. She began her counseling practice which included Equine Assisted Programs with horses in 2002. She is a licensed as an NM independent social worker, TX marriage and family therapist, and certified as an equine assisted psychotherapist.
