Belton Bridge Center
The Belton Bridge Center provides an opportunity for individuals to play duplicate bridge in Las Cruces. All bridge games function under the auspices of the American Contract Bridge League. Additionally, bridge lessons are available for beginning and intermediate players on a periodic basis.
Description:
Games are played at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The game on Thursday starts at 1:00 p.m. There is one Sunday game a month operated by the Board of Directors. All other games are individually owned by ACBL licensed directors and are sanctioned by the ACBL. The Monday game is limited to players with less than 200 ACBL master points. All other games are open to all levels of play and most games are stratified. A Board of Directors of seven people manages all Unit 380 business.
History:
The Belton Bridge Center of Las Cruces, New Mexico, ACBL Unit 380, was dedicated in April 1999. An old convenience store was remodeled, most of the work being done by the membership. The bridge center was named in memory of Roger Belton and Michelle Gose Belton. While on active duty in the U.S. Army, they were killed by a drunk driver on October 18, 1992.
