Southern New Mexico Diabetes Outreach
The mission of the Southern New Mexico Diabetes Outreach (SNMDO) is Prevent - Screen - Support. Our Vision is: to Improve Lives of People with Diabetes or at Risk for Diabetes in Southern New Mexico
Description:
SNMDO goes into communities upon request and provides diabetes screenings for clubs, organizations, businesses, and Health Fairs. SNMDO serves Dona Ana, Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, Lincoln, Luna, Otero, and Sierra Counties.
History:
SNMDO was formed in 1998 and became a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization in March 2001 and is managed and operated by a volunteer Board of Directors. We provide free diabetes screenings using volunteer screeners that are trained, certified and recertified each year. The screenings are held throughout the community upon request. SNMDO has 3 support group meetings in our community each month. We will train and certify interested volunteers to help with diabetes screenings and to facilitate diabetes classes and educational support groups.
