Description:
Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is southern New Mexico’s largest public library. We serve the recreational and informational needs of patrons from preschoolers to senior citizens. Our patrons come from a broad spectrum of economic, cultural and educational backgrounds. Currently, we also a small satellite library at the Robert Munson Senior center.
History:
Branigan Library has served the people of Las Cruces and Dona Ana County since 1935, when Alice Branigan, widow of Cpt. Thomas Branigan left a bequest to Las Cruces that allowed the town to build and furnish a public library. The Library moved from its original home on Water Street (now the Branigan Cultural Center) to its "new" home on the corner of Picacho and Main in 1979.
