La Pinon Sexual Assault Recovery Services of Southern New Mexico
La Pinon's mission is to provide a comprehensive array of services related to sexual assault and abuse to individuals, families and the community. We believe that by offering unconditional support, information and a safe environment for change, the person who has been sexually assaulted can take steps to regain control of their lives and make the transition from victim to survivor.
Description:
La Pinon is the only agency in the southern part of New Mexico providing comprehensive services for sexual assault victims and their families. We provide 24/7 crisis intervention by phone and in person, community prevention, outpatient counseling and the SANE Unit. The crisis intervention service is worked by trained volunteer advocates who successfully complete a 40 hour training.
Our SANE unit is housed at Memorial Medical Center. The prevention program serves all requests for information and training in English and Spanish. All our services are bi-lingual and bi-cultural. Our out-patient counseling is flexible to meet the needs of the survivor and their families.
In addition, we provide law enforcement training on first response and various professional training concerning sexual assault topics.
We also provide the same services in Truth or Consequences, Williamsburg and the surrounding rural areas.
History:
La Pinon was established in July 1992. We have enhanced our services since then and have continually delivered "best practice" in our programs. We are a member of the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico.
