Southwest Environmental Center
The Southwest Environmental Center works to protect and restore native wildlife and their habitats in the Southwestern borderlands, through advocacy, public education and on-the-ground restoration projects.
Description:
Our current campaigns focus on restoring the Rio Grande, protecting Otero Mesa, and ensuring the success of Mexican wolf reintroduction in the Southwest.
History:
We opened our doors in 1992 in Las Cruces, and have served as a voice for the environment ever since. One of our notable recent successes is the Mesilla Valley Bosque Park which protects about 1000 acres of habitat along the Rio Grande near Mesilla, and will soon become New Mexico's newest state park.
