Supervisor Volunteer Coordinator Time Commitment Three to four hours per month Qualifications Comfortable with kids and knowledge about companion animals Enjoy public speaking to small groups Ability to work independently, keep appointments, and be responsible for programs Duty Options Available Tours: Each tour last about 30 minutes and is conducted here at ASCMV Classroom: Pick up materials at ASCMV prior to your visit, then travel to the school for a 45 minute presentation. We use the “buddy system” whenever possible, connecting your with another volunteer to share responsibility for the program. If you have a great pet that is suitable for classroom visits, you may be able to use them but it is not required. After school: Volunteers with small companion pet experience meet at ASCMV about 3pm to work for an hour with junior high students. You will be sharing information and teaching how to handle/socialize these shelter pets.

I'm active in the Renaissance Faire Royal Court and Las Cruces Singles as well as various other organizations. Years ago, some friends and I did a garage sale fundraiser for the shelter and I shall do another one through Las Cruces Singles in the next few months. I've been putting off doing another because I'm so busy but the puppies and dogs really touch my heart every time that I'm out to the shelter.
