SNMDO will train and certify volunteer personnel as Diabetes Screeners and Diabetes Educational Support Group Facilitators. Southern New Mexico has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the United States and you can make a difference in your community by helping to improve lives. One in three persons with diabetes in New Mexico is unaware that they have the disease and SNMDO's goal is to reach these persons before they experience complications caused by diabetes. Office Support will help set-up diabetes screenings and contact screeners, send out public service announcements for support groups, and help with details for the Diabetes Wellness Day Conference.
There is approximately a three hour training session for the Diabetes Screener and Diabetes Educational Support Group Facilitator positions. Training sessions are ongoing and can be scheduled upon contact with the SNMDO office. This opportunity is sponsored by: Southern New Mexico Diabetes Outreach
