Description : AmeriCorps ٭VISTA is a national service program dedicated to eliminating poverty by helping individuals and low-income neighborhoods make positive changes for themselves. Through AmeriCorps٭ VISTA, ordinary people provide extraordinary service in more than 1,200 projects nationwide.
▪ As an AmeriCorps٭ VISTA member you can choose from projects throughout the country based on your skills and interests. Service is full time for one year with community-based organizations (faith-based and secular). Your assignments may involve starting new programs, recruiting and training volunteers, writing grant proposals, seeking out sponsorships, planning community meetings, and handling public relations.
▪ The benefits for serving as a full time AmeriCorps* VISTA includes a $ 4,275 Educational Award and $ 1,000 for serving as an AmerCorps* Summer Associate.
Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday/ 8am-5pm
Eligibility Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older AmeriCorps*VISTA members bring significant work and life experiences to their assignment. Initiative, flexibility, and organizational skills are a must. Fluency in Spanish or other languages also can be helpful in certain programs. You must be available to serve full-time for one year.
