Program name: AmeriCorps, In-School Support and Safe-Out-of School Time Programs
Description : AmeriCorps volunteers must be 18 years old or older and must have a high school diploma or plan on receiving one by the end of the service term.

National Service program that engages thousands of Americans in a domestic Peace Corps to get things done in our communities. In exchange for one or two years of service, AmeriCorps members receive education awards to help finance their college education.

The local FYI Program places members in three projects: 1) In-School tutoring services to children in grades K-5 not reading at grade level, 2) In-School tutoring in local high school and 3) Safe Out of School Time services in at risk neighborhoods. Additionally, Families and Youth, Inc./AmeriCorps sponsors the Enterprise City Program which takes place during the summer months when school is not in session.
Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM; Friday: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Eligibility Requirements: Service to children is based on need
Intake Procedure: Fill out application form to be participant in AmeriCorps. A limited number of slots are available. Generally, the children served by AmeriCorps volunteers are referred to the programs. Children can also apply directly.
