Program name: Learn To Read Program
Description : Literacy Volunteers of Doña Ana County is a volunteer tutoring program that is a component of the Adult Basic Education Division. We provide FREE one-on-one or small group tutoring for adults in basic reading, writing, math, or English as a Second Language (ESL).
Hours of Operation: different according to need
Eligibility Requirements: LV-DAC works closely with Adult Basic Education. We offer tutoring for adults who have literacy skills at the most basic levels. Our program primarily serves: Students who speak English but read and write at less than the sixth grade level, and: ESL students who had less than six grade English language skills.
Intake Procedure: All Students who come to LV-DAC take a pre-test to determine their level. LV-DAC matches eligible students with trained volunteer literacy tutors. A student meets her/his tutor for 2-4 hours a week, and together they work on the educational goals that the student has identified. Our tutoring services are free, and student information is kept confidential. If you know an adult who needs help learning basic reading, writing, math, or English, please call (575) 527-7544 or stop by the Quintana Learning Center at DACC.

Directions:

 From University Avenue, go South on Espina Street 5 blocks to Gregg Street. The College (Doña Ana Community College) is on the Southwest corner of Gregg and Espina. Literacy Volunteers is in the Quintana Learning Center on the college campus. Get a free visitor's parking permit from the NMSU web site or NMSU Campus Police, or park in the unpaved lot on Gregg Street opposite the College. Welcome!
