The Idaho Botanical Garden is an inviting regional destination garden containing significant and notable plant collections. The Garden is a beautiful and inspirational gathering place and educational environment. The Garden provides a full garden experience for all ages that enhances our community's quality of life through our plant collections, our education programs, and our entertainment, cultural and community events.

Description:
The Idaho Botanical Garden consists of many specialty gardens which offer beauty and tranquility to visitors. Encompassing 33 acres, our horticultural displays consist of a wide variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and flowering bulbs. Plant collections include shade, herb, heirloom roses, and alpine garden plants.

The Garden's educational mission is achieved through continuing education classes for the amateur gardener, school tours, day camps for children, and family activities.

Special events offered year-round include a Plant Sale, Summer Lecture Series, Summer Garden Party, Great Garden Escape Concert Series, Bug Day, Family Days , Oktoberfest, and Winter Garden aGlow.

History:
The Idaho Botanical Garden is a non-profit organization begun in 1984 on a portion of the grounds of the former Idaho State Penitentiary. Over the years, many specialty gardens have been designed including the Herb Garden, Jane Falk Oppenheimer Heirloom Rose Garden, , Muriel and Diana Kirk English Garden,Meditation Garden, Water Garden, Peony Garden, and the Lewis and Clark Native Plant Garden.

In 2004 the Lewis & Clark Native Plant Garden, filled with plants listed in the Lewis & Clark journals as found in the Intermountain West was added.

The Idaho Botanical Garden is entirely self-supporting. Funds come only from memberships, donations, events, programs, and site rental.
