Our mission is to strive toward giving women hope, encouragement, mental and spiritual direction. To promote and support a high quality of life for those in need in the community through organizing, advocacy, resource development and administering programs directly. To promote the training of individuals for the-purpose of improving or developing her personal and/or workplace capabilities. To promote job training life skills, GED and ABE.

Description:
We assist young ladies transitioning from prison back into society. ladies that are homeless, abused, or need help We try to make the transition as smoothly as possible. We encourage the ladies to get a deeper spiritual grasp on their lives. We encourage them to turn from their former past times and to grasp on fulfilling their lives in a positive way. We encourage them to give back to society is a positive and not a negative. We are a vendor for V.R. ( vocational rehabilitation). They evaluate the ladies to see if they are interested in a job or to further their education also keep us informed of the alcohol/ and drug meetings that are available.

History:
Esther's Refuge was incorporated by the state of NC May 31st, 2005. We have had 11 ladies to go through this program. We first started on 1110 Atlantic Avenue. We have transitioned to 108 Terrace Ct. During the time of Esther's beginning in 2005 we have only had 2 women to return to prison. We don't like that, but as we all know you have got to want to change and make a better life for yourself. It is I WANT TO DO BETTER, situation.
