To work creatively and cooperatively to establish and maintain credibility with low income persons, the leaders of institutions which affect their lives, and members of the legal community by providing high quality legal advocacy so as to promote equal access to justice, and to educate and empower clients to improve their quality of life.

Description:
Legal Aid of North Carolina is a law office that provides free, civil legal services to low-income residents in Edgecombe, Greene, Lenoir, Nash, Wayne and Wilson Counties. Legal Aid can provide persons with an attorney or other legal assistance for a number of legal problems. Legal Aid represents clients who cannot afford the services of a private attorney. We can also provide assistance to community groups working on issues that affect low income people. Some of the types of cases handled are: employment, landlord/tenant, social security, domestic violence and others.
