Wayne Area Role Models With Heart ![]() |
The mission of the WARM Hearts mentor program is to provide the youth of Wayne County with positive adult influences in their lives. The mentors serve as positive role models through communicating, encouraging, and building a trusting relationship with a Wayne County youth.
Description:
The WARM Hearts program pairs mentors in a one-on-one relationship with compatible mentees. The mentors must be at least 18 years old and have reliable transportation, while the youth must be at least 5 years old. Together, "matches" can do a variety of things in the community including, visiting the Family YMCA, watching movies, cooking, sporting events, shopping, and much more. Mentoring is a way in which you can make a dramatic difference in the life of a child by providing a positive influence and lifestyle for him/her.
History:
The Wayne Area Role Models with Heart mentor program was established about 6 years ago by several agencies throughout the county. Today, there are 23 community serving agencies that serve as the backbone of the organization. Therefore, you are not just volunteering for one program, but for several; serving your community.
