Volunteer Opportunity Details:

• Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
• Determine the nature and scope of the disaster so the chapter can respond appropriately
• Respond to local disasters to provide for immediate needs of victims (food, clothing, shelter)
• Make contact with public officials on scene to coordinate Red Cross services with those of police, fire and other agencies
• Provide a full damage assessment
• Determine the support that may be needed after first response
• Arrange necessary follow-up or further assistance to disaster victims
• Complete any necessary reports or documents related to incident
• Attend DAT scheduled meetings
• Availability to be on-call
• Ability to work with diverse populations in highly stressful situations
• Public speaking
• Compassion
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer skills
