Volunteer Opportunity Details: Last updated on August 16, 2009 The Wayne County Humane Society is in need of people to help return calls from the public. We do not have a full time person, so we rotate returning messages on a nightly basis. All calls are from concerned citizens of Wayne County, and we need your help to get the proper information out to the public. Our office is located on the 2nd floor of the Weil building (the old Goldsboro hotel) in downtown Goldsboro. A couple of nights training with another volunteer is required. All needed information is provided. Good phone etiquette, writing skills and problem solving are needed. You will return phone calls about spay/neuter clinics, membership, volunteers, upcoming events, adoptions, lost and found, pick-ups, abuse and other animal related issues. Also, referring some calls to the proper persons and/or agencies. You have to log every call, such as name, subject, date, type of call and action taken. You will be dealing with the good and the bad situations. You can volunteer to get into the nightly rotation or train as an alternate. It takes about 1 to 2 hours a session, to return anywhere from 4 to 15 calls.
