Governor Easley has proclaimed April 29, 2003 as National Service Day. He states that "National Service Day is a time to celebrate your remarkable achievements, it is also a time to reflect in the challenges that face us now and lie ahead. Volunteers and community service participants help the people of our state lead healthier, happier lives.'
