Make A Difference Day began with a simple idea: Put your own cares on hold for one day to care for someone else. Now in its 13th year, the nation's largest single day of volunteering has hit its stride. United Way of Wayne County, Volunteer Wayne/RSVP�and the City of Goldsboro are partnering once again for this annual day of community service in Wayne County. We will begin the day at Waynesborough Historical Village. An opening ceremony with community leaders and music will energize volunteers as a kick off to various community projects at Waynesborough Historical Village or at other non-profit agencies throughout Wayne County. How to Get Involved Connect to projects by registering online with Volunteer Wayne/RSVP (agencies will soon begin listing their projects) or by contacting Joy Pearce at (919) 735-5151 ext 336. You may also conduct a drive within your company for non-perishable foods, hygiene or disaster kit items, school supplies, or winter blankets or coats. Items can be collected anytime before October 23rd for delivery on or before that day to The Salvation Army, 610 N. William St. (Goldsboro). If necessary, arrangements for pick up from your location may be possible. Whatever you choose to do, help us celebrate all the accomplishments of Make a Difference Day by registering your project. Media will be following the event and we want to include all the participants. Who takes part in Make A Difference Day? Anyone. Young and old, individuals and groups, anyone can carry out a volunteer project that helps others. Join Wayne County's Make a Difference Day, as volunteers connect with for the nation's largest community wide day of service in our nation. With more than 30 project sites in Wayne County offering more than 50 activities, everyone is sure to find a service opportunity in their interest area. |
