Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc. is a regional community based behavioral health care provider dedicated to improving the quality of life for adults, adolescents, and children with mental illness living in Central Connecticut. Our mission is to develop and maintain an accessible mental health and addictions delivery system that meets the essential needs of people consistent with their goals for change and recovery.

Relational aspects of treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery are critical to change. Thus CMHA affirms the importance of respect, consistency, commitment and interdisciplinary approaches in the work that is done.

In order to provide for people with varying needs. CMHA offers a wide spectrum of services. These range from brief, educational interventions aimed at prevention (such as anger management classes) to intensive case management and residential facilities with twenty-four hour supervision for those needing greater assistance.

CMHA's treatment approach is holistic and collaborative, taking into account the specific needs of the client (which may include that person's family) and tailoring services according to the client's expressed goals. Utilization of evidence-based practices is encouraged where applicable. Emphasis is placed on continuous quality-improvement by tracking outcomes and adapting practices to maximize positive results.

History:
Founded in 1975, Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc., (CMHA) is a private non-profit provider of mental health and substance abuse treatment services, headquartered in New Britain, CT, with 22 locations in 10 cities and towns throughout northwest and central Connecticut.
Dedicated to improving the quality of life for Connecticut’s residents, CMHA offers a continuum of programs for adults, adolescents, children, and families, ranging from residential treatment to outpatient counseling and prevention programs. CMHA has over 30 years experience as one of the largest behavioral health care providers in Connecticut, and we provide treatment for more than 6,000 children, adolescents, and adults each year.
