Youth Volunteer Corps Of Yellowstone County
The purpose of Youth Volunteer Corps is to create volunteer opportunities that will enrich youth, address community needs, and promote the importance of volunteering.
Description:
Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) is a community wide service club for youth ages 11-18. YVC offers volunteer opportunities that let youth discover, investigate and address community issues. Projects may last one day, one week, or all season long both school year and summer. Members decide which projects to attend, and the level of member participation is up to the volunteer. We work with agencies throughout the county to offer meaningful and fun opportunities some of which include, ZooMontana, Eagle Mount and Community Day Care. All YVC projects are accompanied by Team Leaders who supervise, ensure safety and encourage team building amongst youth volunteers. All Team Leaders are 21 years of age or older and commit to the program on a session-by-session basis. Team Leaders undergo a screening and training process prior to serving.
History:
YVC of Yellowstone County was formed in the Spring of 2009 by The Volunteer Center and United Way. Youth Volunteer Corps of America has been serving youth since 1985. We are one of many YVC affiliates across the country.
