RSVP Yellowstone County
RSVP Yellowstone County connects boomers and other active older adults, 55+, to critical identified community needs. Through volunteering, they enjoy social interaction while continuing to use their wisdom, experience and skills to impact their communities.
Description:
RSVP volunteers play an extremely important role towards "getting things done" in their local communities. RSVP staff assists each enrolled senior volunteer to match his/her personal interests, skills and life experiences to a local agency or organization where they can to make a difference in the lives of others. RSVs can volunteer as little or as much as they want. They have the opportunity to continue to do something they have done their entire life or to try something completely new. RSVP volunteers choose the location of their service in the County - anywhere from Billings to Ballantine, Broadview, Custer, Huntley, Laurel, or Worden. There are no dues or income guidelines to be an RSV. Volunteers receive no monetary payment for their service, but they do get the satisfaction of meeting needs, have a safe place place to try something new, receive free supplemental insurance, have opportunities to attends volunteer celebrations & appreciations, and to work toward receiving President Bush's Presidential Citation. Also, it's a great way to make some new friends!
History:
As one of the largest volunteer efforts in the nation, RSVP has been active in Yellowstone County for the past 30 years. More than 450,000 older Americans, age 55 and over, nationwide provided community service through the sponsorship of more than 750 local RSVP projects. In Yellowstone County, over 700 RSVP volunteers are currently dedicating their time and energy to our local communities through 100+ local schools, hospitals, & city, county and non-profit agencies.
