The Yellowstone Art Museum will be a leader in the regional museum community, appealing to an increasingly diverse audience and exemplifying standards of excellence in every aspect for its operations. As a dynamic art museum, it will stimulate a broad understanding of the value of the visual arts as an essential component of a quality life. As a cultural institution, it will interpret, document and preserve the developing artistic heritage of this region of the United States.
History:
The Yellowstone Art Museum started in 1964 as the Yellowstone Art Center, formerly the old Yellowstone County Jail, was renovated by volunteers and opened mid-October as a community center for art exhibitions and classes. In June of 1998 the the Art Center was expanded and became the Yellowstone Art Museum.
